Oops I Did It Again...Again
by Paul Benson | Nov 11, 2015
Not much to say this week. We're entering that crazy time of year where everyone's schedules get packed...and doesn't really lighten up until after January 1st.
However, that does NOT mean we're slacking off here at Heroines For Hire! Thanks to an unexpected loss of internet for a whole day, I cranked out the scripts for a bunch of strips. Not quite enough to take us into 2016, but enough to keep ahead of the curve.
Of course, that also meant that I was putting less time into something that might actually make me money, so I'm keeping this blog short this week so I can get back to work!

I'm awake, yes I am! Apparently you shouldn't use "Comic Sans" even on a fucking comic. Not telling that long sorry story, but I will give you some advice.
When you are commissioning work and using an artist who is picking up from where someone else left off, make sure you provide them with a "Bible" with any resources they might need to do the job. For web design, flyer layouts, or any graphic design gigs, a "Bible" might include your logo, spot colors and the names of the fonts you use. For a comic you might consider including copies of previous books, master sheets for each character including typical expressions, 360 turnaround, posture, costume details or ususal weapons and any palette or style preferences a creative might need. Even if an artist has all of that information, remember no two people have the same exact handwriting, so don't expect that they will be able to draw, design, or create exactly the way someone else will. Also artists are not mind readers. Give them as much information as you can so they can get to your desired goals faster and with less strain.
Now go, create something, and share it with us some how! We are dying for feedback here people! |
