Oops I Did It Again

If you've been reading Heroines from the start, you've probably come to realize that Judy has some unresolved anger issues. But what set her off this time? You'll find out next week...and also if they were able to successfully reattach Olaf's member. Luckily they got it on ice right away, so odds are good.
We missed our strip last week (Jo goes into the reasons why in her blog) so it bears mentioning that we were at Stan Lee's Comikaze expo in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, no Heroines booth...Jo is too busy running her family business, "The Rational Past," with a nice corner booth on the show floor. Some day we'll actually be able to devote more time to promoting the hell out of our webcomic! In the meanwhile, throw us a bone, gentle reader, and if you like our comic, share it with your friends. And tell them to share it. Help a brotha out.
In other news, Happy Halloween! This year I actually had plans...I went to go see "The Nightmare Before Xmas" at the Hollywood Bowl. It was an amazing show. There were trick-or-treating stations and a costume contest before the screening. And then, the LA Philharmonic performed the score live while the film played...but that's not all. Not just Danny Elfman but the whole original vocal cast performed the songs live during the screening. And if that wasn't enough, there were three reprises after the film, with Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman) joining Catherine O'Hara and Danny Elfman to perform Lock, Shock and Barrel's song, Danny Elfman doing his own rendition of the Oogie Boogie Song, and then the big stunner of the night...Danny Elfman coming onstage with his guitar, and saying that he was going to do something he swore exactly 20 years ago to the night that he would never do again. He then proceeded to launch into Oingo Boingo's "Dead Man's Party."
It's going to be pretty hard to top that Halloween.

You may have heard of “writer’s block,” but there is a lesser known phenomena where visual artists can have the same trouble. In the case of last week’s comic it was impossible to get the drawing to work the way I wanted/needed it to in order to get the comic out on time. I had even asked Paul if it was okay to split the page up so that I could draw less panels. It is hard enough to draw a sequential piece like a comic, but when you just can’t get a line down on paper so that Judy looks like a human being let alone like herself, it is time to take a little break. So for a few days I put the pencil down and picked up some leather to craft with instead. See attachment below for how awesome my project turned out.
So as Paul mentions, I worked yet another Comikaze. The Rational Past has been showing there since the con’s first year and I have to say I really would prefer it not be ON Halloween. Not only have I not decorated my house in 5 years for one of my favorite holidays, I wish I could be home to give out candy instead of the convention supplying vendors with candy to give to grubby little children. Those same children who eat the candy leave the wrappers everywhere (because heaven forefend they provide trashbins in the isles), who then touch all of my antiques with candy-sticky hands, but are also distracting their parents from SHOPPING. Dear Comikaze, stop boosting your attendee numbers with small monsters who get in for free. Their parents are supposed paying an exorbitant rate for entering the con so that they can spend even more money on the floor. It might just be our second to last year at Comikaze (we already put a down payment on next year’s corner booth).
Of course my Halloween was less exciting than Paul’s. It was bound to be.
