No Ordering off the Menu

As I sit here stewing in a warm broth of my own sweat, I'm reminded that we're in the middle of another heat wave here in Los Angeles. This summer has been particularly hard on my poor little French Bulldog...she is definitely not a product of so-called "intelligent design." Of course, it doesn't help that she's an athletic dog trapped in an asthmatic's body, either. We went to the dog park early this morning, and by 7:30 am she was panting in the shade instead of running after her ball.
This is also the same week as Labor Day. Our comic was done on time, but Jo's been bugging me for a blog entry. Having a Monday off always throws my week out of whack. I was talking with a friend last night trying to make plans, and I thought today was Thursday. Which is strange because starting the week a day late would make most people think it was Tuesday instead. But my brain works in that extra special, effed-up way. I wasn't really thinking about the Wednesday blog entry. But Jo's "poke poke" reminders on Facebook got me to the keyboard, and so without further adieu, here's today's blog and comic.
And 99 days to go until Star Wars Episode VII opens!

Yes, so it is hot, and yes I was harassing Paul!
I'm making crazy awesome things for Wasteland Weekend which I will be attending at the end of the month. Quite frankly I could not be more excited by the prospect of sweltering in the desert. I've been learning how to work leather and I even made a badass pair of foam sabres so that I can teach fencing in wasteland and have even considered some of the banter I'm going to employ. Floor mats from Harbor Freight, Barge Glue and PVC pipe work wonders. I'm in love, but there is still more work to be done!
Come visit me at "The Rational Past" booth this weekend at Long Beach Comic Con. Paul will also be around handing out fliers so try and flag him down. |
